Howser sued Palmer to recover a mule, valued at $150. Howser claimed that Palmer had illegally detained the animal. The jury found for Howser. Palmer retained Lincoln and motioned for a new trial. The court granted the motion. The jury failed to reach a verdict, and the court discharged the jury and continued the case. The court later dismissed the case.
